HOW TO PLAY KERBY

Kerby is a classic British street game played with one ball, two kerbs and plenty of arguing over whether that definitely counted.

The aim is simple: throw the ball at the edge of the opposite kerb. If it hits and bounces back towards you, you score a point.

At Yard Ball, we have our own dedicated Kerby lanes where youngens can learn how to play without the fear of boy racers zooming past, hitting a wing mirror or having to stop every few seconds to shout “CAR!”

Kerby Rules

Agree on a winning score before you start. First to five or ten usually works well.

Players stand behind opposite kerbs and take turns throwing the ball.

Hit the edge of the kerb and make the ball bounce back towards you to score a point. Catch the rebound before it touches the floor and you get another go, but from the middle. When you take your shot from the middle, if the other player catches the ball, they have the opportunity at a body shot before you get back to the safety of your kerb.

Simple, fun, addictive.

Once you've finished your game in the Yard Ball challenges, book a game of Kerby to settle the score.

A game of Kerby costs just £5 per lane and can be added to your visit when booking online, just make sure to book it for the time your 60 minute Yard Ball session finishes.

No traffic. No breaking wing mirrors. No shouting “CAR!”

Just simple, fun Kerby like the good old days.
